Sino Si Manny Villar?
Si Villar ay ang ikalawa sa siyam na anak nina Curita Bamba, isang seafood dealer, at Manuel Montalban Villar Sr., isang empleyado ng gobyerno. Ipinanganak noong Disyembre 13, 1949 sa Moriones, Tondo, Maynila, nagsimula siyang magtrabaho sa murang edad bilang katulong ng kanyang ina sa pagtitinda ng pagkaing-dagat (seafood) sa Divisoria. Sa kanyang pagsusumikap ay siya na rin ang nagpaaral sa sarili. Nagtapos siya ng elementarya sa Holy Child Catholic School noong 1962 at ng hayskul sa Mapua Institute of Technology noong 1966.

Isa pa rin siyang working student pagdating ng kolehiyo bilang seafood trader. Matapos ng ilang taon ay nakatapos rin siya ng undergraduate at master's degree sa Business Administration and Accountancy sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas. Sinubukan rin niyang magtrabaho sa prestihiyosong Sycip, Gorres, Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.), ngunit umalis din kinalaunan upang ipagpatuloy ang kanyang negosyong seafood delivery. Sa maikling panahon ay nagtrabaho rin siya bilang financial analyst sa Private Development Corporation of the Philippines, ngunit nagbitiw din agad sa tungkulin at nagsimula ng panibagong negosyo na kaugnay sa construction.

Sa kanyang negosyo sa construction niya napag-isip-isip na simulan ang muling pagtatayo ng isa pang negosyo--ang pagbebenta ng bahay at lupa. Simula noon ay itinuring si Villar bilang isa sa mga haligi ng industriya ng real estate sa Pilipinas.

Buhay pulitika
Noong 1992 ay sinubukan niya ang swerte sa larangan ng pulitika--tumakbo siya bilang Kongresista ng Las Piñas at Muntinlupa, at nanalo. Naatasan naman siya bilang Tagapangulo ng Kongreso noong 1998, at ginamit ang kanyang mga nalalaman sa ekonomiya at pamamahala (management) bilang bahagi ng economic team ng Kongreso.

Pagdating ng 2001 ay sinubukan niyang tumakbo para sa isang posisyon sa Senado, at muling nanalo. Sa suporta ng kanyang mga kapwa senador ay naihalal siya bilang Pangulo ng Senado noong Hulyo 2006. Humawak rin siya ng mga posisyon sa iba't ibang komite.

Bilang politiko, patuloy ang kanyang pagtataguyod ng kahalagahan ng sipag at tiyaga upang maabot ang mga pangarap ng mga Pilipino.

Pacman to run for seat in congress. Hopefully Manny is not under the spell of evil politicians who is using his popularity now a day and the chance that they can use Pacman's money to their own political and personal interest. but if I were Pacman I
would rather not to be politician and instead focus on my boxing career. If I want to help my fellow Filipino specially those poor politics is not the solution. Helping the poor does not mean you need to enter politics, it could be done in many and in simple way and I believe everyone knows this. Pacman a Billionaire, wow... why not buy a large land and build a thousand houses for those people who is homeless, although I understand that its not that easy to do. My QUESTION here is what will you Pacman think you can do inside the house of the "SPEAKERS"? hopefully you will not use your gloves and hit those fellow congressmen every time there is a hot debates.

ANG BUWAN NG DISYEMBRE ay isa sa mga maliligaya at masayang araw sa loob ng isang taon. Ito ay pinanabikang mga araw ng marami, mahirap man o mayaman, sa mga liblib na nayon at maging sa mga siyudad. Ang malamig na simoy ng hangin, mahabang gabi, at kinang ng mga Christmas lights at parol sa bawa't tahanan ang siyang nagpapahayag ng tunay na diwa ng Pasko at pagtatapos ng taon. Ang Pilipinas ay pinaniniwalaang isang tanging bansa na may pinakamatagal at pinakamahabang araw ng kapaskuhan --- patunay ng kanyang pagiging isang bansang Kristiyano.

Nakapagtataka marahil kung bakit sa kabila ng maraming problemang kinakaharap sa ngayon ng bansa at nang sambayanang Filipino, sa kabila ng mga masasamang balita na halos araw-araw ay laman ng mga pahayagan --- patayan, aksidente at trahedyang nagbubuwis ng maraming buhay, kidnapping, anomalya sa loob at labas ng pamahalaan, ang patuloy na digmaan sa maraming bahagi ng Mindanao, pananalasa ng bagyo, panununog at raid ng mga teroristang komunista/Abu Sayyaf/MILF na pawing mga kaaway ng katahimikan, ang malubhang problema sa pananalapi ng gobyerno, kawalan ng hanap-buhay ng maraming mamamayan, pati na ang unti-unting pagbulusok ng halaga ng piso kontra sa dolyar, atbp. --- ang lahat ng ito ay di sapat para itago at pagtakpan ang masayang diwa ng kapaskuhan sa puso at damdamin ng maraming Filipino.

Ano nga ba ang tunay na diwa ng Pasko? Ito ay ang paggunita sa araw ng pagsilang ng Poong Hesus, may 2000 taon na ang nakakaraan. Noon sa isang malamig at madilim na sabsaban sa Bethlehem sumilang ang Manunubos --- ang natatangi at pangakong Anak ng Diyos --- na siyang inaasahang magbibigay katuparan sa magandang kinabukasan ng sanlibutan. Ang payak na sabsaban ng mga tupa ang simbolo ng pagpapakumbaba (humility), samantalang ang pagdalaw at pagbibigay regalo ng Tatlong Haring Mago ang kumakatawan ng pagbibigayan at pagmamahalan (love, friendship and brotherhood) ng bawa't tao sa isa't isa.

Samantala, ang diwa ng Pasko ay di kumikilala ng layo o agwat sa pagitan ng mga taong nagmamahalan. Marami sa ating mga kababayan ang ngayon ay nasa ibang bansa, katulad halimbawa dito sa bansang Hapon, kung saan dahilan sa pangangailangan, ay nagdiriwang ng Pasko na malayo sa kanilang pamilya at kasambahay --- pagdiriwang na malayo sa piling ng kanilang kaanak at mahal sa buhay. Ang diwa ba ng Pasko ay nababawasan ng ganitong situwasyon?, Hindi, sa aming palagay, sapagka't ang pagmamahal ay di kayang ikulong sa hawla o kaya't palibutan ng rehas at bato. Ang tunay na diwa ng Pasko ay nasa puso, nasa damdamin, nasa ala-ala ng bawa't tao --- sa sinoman na nagmamalasakit at nagmamahal.

Ito ay isa lamang sa mga hiwagang bumabalot sa diwa ng kapaskuhan. Marami nang mga Pantas ang nagbigay paliwanag sa tunay na kahulugan ng araw na ito, mga pananaw na sa pagdaraan ng maraming taon ay lalo pang pinatitingkad ng aktuwal na karanasan at saloobin ng marami --- mga kasiyahang di matatawaran ng salapi o bigat ng mga problemang kinakaharap sa buhay.

Samantala, ang araw ng Pasko ay sinusundan ng Bagong Taon --- isa ring natatanging araw na may sariling diwa at kalatas sa puso ng marami --- ang pagtalikod sa nakaraang taon at masayang pagsalubong sa darating; ang simbolo ng bagong pag-asa, ng bagong pananaw, bagong pagharap at pakikipagsapalaran sa buhay. Ang Bagong Taon ay isang bagong pangako sa buhay ng bawa't tao, pangako ng isang magandang bukas na nararapat pagyamanin at bigyan ng katarungan. Pangako ng isang bagong hamon ng pakikipamuhay at pakikipagsapalaran. Sa tulong at kalinga ng Panginoon, sa pamamagitan ng sipag at tiyaga ng bawa't mamamayan, tunay na ang hinaharap ay magiging maligaya sa sinomang nagmamahal at di nawawalan ng pag-asa.

Lalong kalulungkutan ko ang mga taong patuloy na sumusuporta at sumasaludo at nanatiling tapat sa mga pinuno nilang sadlak sa kasamaan, mamamatay at abusado sa kapangyarihan, Wala ba sa pamilya o mahal sa buhay nila ang nabilang sa mga pinaslang o di kaya'y wala ba silang isip at damdamin o awa sa mga taong pinaslang ng walang kalaban-laban e kung sa kanila kaya mangyari ang ganitong trahedya ipaglalaban pa ba nila ang mga demonyong pinuno nila?
